At nRide, your privacy is our priority. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our ride-hailing platform.

Section 01

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, information generated through your use of the nRide platform, and information from third-party sources in order to provide you with a safe, reliable, and personalised ride-hailing experience.

Account & Profile Data

  • Full name, email address, and phone number
  • Profile photo and gender
  • Home or work address saved to your account
  • Identity verification documents (National ID Number, Bank Verification Number) for driver onboarding
  • Corporate account details where applicable

Trip & Usage Data

  • Pick-up and drop-off locations, route, and trip history
  • Ride ratings, feedback, and dispute records
  • Payment method type and transaction history
  • App usage patterns, feature interactions, and timestamps

Device & Location Data

  • Real-time GPS location while the app is active or in the background (with your permission)
  • Device model, OS version, unique device identifiers, and IP address
  • Crash logs and diagnostic performance data

Note: Location data is only collected when the app is open or actively running a trip. We never collect location data in the background without your explicit consent.

How We Use Your Information

nRide uses the information we collect to operate and improve the platform, ensure safety, and deliver excellent customer service. Specific uses include:

Sharing Your Information

nRide does not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share information as described below:

With Drivers

When you book a ride, we share your name, pick-up location, and profile photo with your matched driver. We do not share your phone number directly — calls are routed through an anonymised relay system.

With Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party vendors (payment processors, cloud hosting, analytics, identity verification) who process data strictly on our behalf under contractual data-protection obligations.

Legal & Safety Obligations

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of nRide, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may be transferred to the successor entity. We will notify you via email or prominent in-app notice before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.

Important: nRide will never share your National ID Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN) with drivers or other riders under any circumstances.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

  • All data is transmitted over TLS/SSL encryption
  • Sensitive fields (passwords, identity numbers) are hashed or encrypted at rest
  • Access to personal data is restricted to authorised nRide employees on a need-to-know basis
  • Regular security audits and penetration testing
  • Two-factor authentication available for all user accounts

While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you suspect a breach, please contact our security team immediately at security@nride.com.

Cookies & Tracking

nRide uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience, remember your preferences, and analyse usage.

You can manage or disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings or the in-app privacy preferences menu. Disabling essential cookies may affect app functionality.

Section 06

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data via your profile settings or by contacting support.
  • Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Request deletion of your account and associated personal data. Some data may be retained where required by law.
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data under certain circumstances.
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
  • Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, visit your Profile settings or contact us at privacy@nride.com. We will respond within 30 days.

You may also request account deletion directly from the Profile page in the nRide app. All ride history, personal details, and account data will be permanently removed after a 30-day grace period.

Section 07

Communications

nRide may send you the following types of communications:

  • Transactional: Booking confirmations, receipts, OTPs, and account security alerts — these are mandatory and cannot be disabled.
  • Service Updates: Policy changes, feature announcements, and safety notices.
  • Promotional: Discount codes, referral bonuses, and personalised offers — you can opt out at any time from app notification settings.

Push notifications can be managed through your device settings. Email marketing can be unsubscribed from using the link at the bottom of any marketing email.

Section 08

Third-Party Services

The nRide app integrates with certain third-party services to deliver its functionality. These may include:

  • Mapping & Navigation: Google Maps / Mapbox for route calculation and live tracking
  • Payment Processing: Paystack, Flutterwave, or similar gateways for secure transactions
  • Identity Verification: Licensed KYC providers for NIN/BVN validation
  • Analytics: Anonymised usage analytics to improve app performance
  • Push Notifications: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for in-app alerts

Each third-party provider is bound by their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review those policies for services you use. nRide is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites linked from our app.

Section 09

Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
